In the not-so-distant future, we may reach a dangerous situation that can be compared to the situation in the 2004 film, iRobot. Our society is directed towards a world dominated with robotics, transhumanism (explain what it is), and artificial intelligence, they will affect employment, politics, and society as a whole. If we do not start creating regulations on its use now, we will as a society be in serious trouble.
Because of the extraordinary advancement of science in recent years, technology will make innovations so surprising that they are beyond fiction. In order to avoid ethical problems, we must implement strict regulations regarding this new world. To prevent technology from dominating our societies, we must anticipate risks that produce injustices, dishonesties, indecencies, violations of ethical values and fundamental rights. The ethical care of our cultures, traditions, customs and languages must be a priority in the development of the rules that must be followed to face technological advances.
Robotics will increase productivity, lower costs, create unemployment and result in economic growth for the good of all. But this will bring several aspects that we must control so that society does not develop negatively, generating greater inequality between rich and poor, creating a society with more savage capitalism and generalized dehumanization. Researchers and designers have a crucial responsibility to make the transparency, reversibility and traceability of processes imposed in the development of these new technologies. The control must be human so that at all times it is the humans who decide what can be done or not. Legislation worldwide has already started with the Code of Ethics of Conduct on Robotics implemented in the European Parliament and the Ethical Guide for Artificial Intelligence.
Marx raised it centuries ago, “Let us seek to solve the social, human, and planet needs and with that technology ceases to be at the service of capitalist profit. Quite utopian for a world like the one we live in.” The automation of work and robots could lead to a sad future as human beings if there is no strict regulation or extreme clarity in the rules of the game. The moral behavior, the technology of values principles, the ethical processes, the social responsibility will establish the norms and codes of conduct so that the society is not affected by the implementation of artificial intelligence, robotics and transhumanism. The confinement produced by the coronavirus pandemic accelerated the process of the development of virtual reality throughout the world. For more than 30 days we have been in our homes and billions of people have been in front of their electronic devices.
